» Why is the sky blue and the ocan clear when u put it in a cup?

why is the sky blue and the ocan clear when u put it in a cup?cuz god made itHaha, finally someone asks a good question on this subject. Most people will think they are intelligently saying that the sky is blue because it reflects off the ocean, but it has absolutely NOTHING to do with the ocean. It's an effect called Rayleigh Scattering. Light refracts when it goes through prisms, or basically breaks up into all the colors. This is why a rainbow appears too, because water particles act as prisms. So in the atmosphere, light refracts, and the longer wavelengths like the blues and violets bounce around from all the gases and particles in the atmosphere, and the rest passes through as white light. So when the blues and violets bou...... - 2010-03-07

» How come England can produce a true #10?

Folks..I dont mean to challenge here but over the years I have noticed that England has not developed a #10 playmaker along the lines of a Pele, Zico, Maradona, Valderrama, 0rtega, Del Piero, Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Ron Gaucho, Juninho Paulisto, Figo, Z.Z. etc.. It seems from the outside that England tends to punish creative players..Rix, Hoddle, Waddle, Alan Hudson, Rodney Marsch, LeTessier..etc.. The closest they have come to a true #10 is Gazza in recent memory..I always laugh when I see that England wants Scholes to be the playmaker..he does not have the visison or the skills to play in that position.. In Latin America they seem to grow them on trees..see Pablo Aimar, Saviola, Tevez, among others.. So, what is going on?..Can this ...... - 2010-03-07

» Overall, is it good or bad for the US of A if?

the price of gas and oil continues to fall? thank you for your consideration. jimOur entire economy is based upon energy, and oil is the lubrication that greases the gears of productivity. The prices fluctuate within the market due to output and consumption. Both of these variables are currently subject to power players within the industry around the world due to American reliance on foreign oil. Falling prices reflect a 'glut' of oil, meaning that output has exceeded consumption rates around the world. Counter measures will be taken by power blocks - primarily OPEC - in order to increase the price for a barrel of oil, as they will reduce output so that the market corrects. The root of the question; is it good or bad for the U.S...... - 2010-03-07

Especially with the first dog? I know it's all for the best for the dog but isn't it really hard letting go?I've always been truly happy for each one of my fosters when they found their forever home. With the exception of my first - I got really attached to her in a very short time, was devastated when she was adopted, and was elated when she was returned to the rescue 4 months later because the family decided they didn't really want a dog. I've had her back for over 6 years now!Its always hard. » Why fresh water organisms such as paramecium excrete so much water? ?

And is that the process called active transport?Paramecium contain a contractile vacuole which aids in excretion by expelling excess water and some nitrogenous waste. In fresh water, the inside of cells has a higher concentration of salt than the surrounding water, and water constantly enters the cell by osmosis. Radiating canals in Paramecium collect excess water from the cell and deposit it in the contractile vacuole, which squeezes it out through a pore on the surface. This process requires energy supplied by ATP produced in the cell's mitochondria. Yes, this is active transport since it requires energy. ...... - 2010-03-07

I was under the impression that thinking for myself means not relying upon others to tell me what to believe, but most atheists I debate with tell me that I am not allowed to believe that I am reasonable even though I have thought for myself about this and concluded that I am. You don't need my permission for anything. It sounds like you are just bitter and frustrated because you cannot logically defend your god-belief. That's hardly my fault, pumpkin. Just because you have an opinion does not make you right or reasonable. If you could find a way to explain why your religious delusion was reasonable I think you'd have posted it along with this question. you're "allowed" to believe whatever you want, but the p...... - 2010-03-07

» Sticky shutter?

I recently purchased a 24mm Carl Zeiss Jena II for my OM1 and sometimes when I fire the shutter it sticks and only releases when I give it a slight tap. Im wondering if this is a problem with the lens or my OM1. All my other lens work perfecly. Oddly enough when I mount the lens on my other OM1 body it seems to work fine. If the problem is with the lens is it something I could resolve myself or will I have to get a pro to look at it. Thanks for looking.I recently purchased a 24mm Carl Zeiss Jena II for my OM1 and sometimes when I fire the shutter it sticks and only releases when I give it a slight tap. » Is cream of tartar necessary?

I'm making a sugar cookie recipe, but I'm not sure if cream of tartar is completely necessary. Here's the link to the specific recipe: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Cracked-Sug...Yes. You need an acidic ingredient to activate the baking soda. Cream of tartar IS the acidic ingredient. Otherwise, you'd need something else, like buttermilk. Both of these recipes do not use acidic ingredients except for the cream of tartar. Tracy is right but she failed to mention that you would need to eliminate the baking soda, also. However, you should understand the chemical principles within the recipe. This is important in order to become a good baker.what tracey said. lol.. wishes i had one of those cookies right about ...... - 2010-03-07

» Web frameworks for rapid prototyping

We are trying to decide what the best web framework available for rapid prototyping in developing our new web application, so we are hoping to gather information about the frameworks that are out there. It needs: -to have many available and compatible development tools (and support services) -to have many open source user contributions -to be free or reasonable in price -to have user management tools -to support Java We would like the answer to layout the advantages and disadvantages of these characteristics of several different frameworks. Some of the frameworks we are considering are .NET, Ajax, and Spring. We would like to know about these and others you may suggest. Other information we would like about these frameworks: ...... - 2010-03-07

» Defense: Conceding space.

I think this may be a missing link in the defense of my team, even though we play with a sweeper the teams we always play against do pretty much nothing but knock throughballs on us. The sweeper will have a 1 v. 1 situation all the way to the goal, he loses sometimes. To prevent long over-the-top throughballs conceding the space is an option correct? B/c the less space they have to pass into the more likely the goalie will get it and the more likely it is for the sweeper to stay right with his man since the striker will not just be able to do a full sprint towards the goal. Now, I do not (clearly) have a complete understanding of conceding the space to prevent throughballs, but shouldn't we drop back in a situation like this for example...... - 2010-03-07

» How do i find a girfrend?

no stupid remarks plesse 1. Find a girl that you are interested in. 2. Befriend that girl. 3. Build the friendship with the girl. 4. See if you want to get romantically involved with her. 5. If you do want to get romantically with her, then ask her out. 6. Build the relationship with her romantically after asking her out. It is a simple 6 step program.Look around school if there are no girls you like there go to hang outs when u find a girl you like talk to her for a little while after that maybe ask for her email address or phone number then ask her if she wants to hang out after you hang out ask her on a dateProbably NOT in the Languages Section of Yahoo! » vBulletin Owned License expired?

Hello, I checked the member area after a long time and it states, that our license is "expired"? How could this happen, I thought we had bought a lifetime owned license for vbulletin? Does this mean that I couldn't run vBulletin anymore? What to do now? Thanks, -TomWith an owned license you can run the software forever - that doesn't end. The listed expiration is for your access to the download new versions from the Members Area. You get one year of free upgrades with your license. After this the current cost is just $30/yr for continued access to new versions. However, this is optional and you are allowed to continue running your current version for as long as you like.Ok, great - was shocked for a minute though ;) Found the $30 ...... - 2010-03-07

» Guys..what's your opinion?

Think of a very pretty girl in your grade who's shy, cute, fashionable, and an all around nice girl with straight layered long brown hair. The next day, that girl comes to school with punked out emo/scene hair-still the same girl, just a completely different look. Would the adventurous new hairstyle be a turnon or a turnoff and would it change your opinion of her and why?turnoff, and i would be like wtf, what went wrong?? Not at all, give her credit for trying something new and different, Unless you are confident in yourself you will not try new things. Give her credit where credit is due, It does not matter if you or your friends like it. I mean i might be like what the heck happened to her. that would just be kind of awkward...... - 2010-03-07

» Is there a grace period for insurance when you buy a new truck?

The standard policy covers newly acquired vehicles automatically for 30 days, but don't put off calling in the new truck; it's awfully easy to forget doing it, and after 30 days, it's no longer covered. The dealer will probably insist on verifying your insurance anyway, just to protect themselves and you.Yes. The grace period runs from the moment you sign the papers until you drive the truck the first time. Do not drive anything without insurance. Period. The moment you know what you are buying, contact your agent and give him the information. Once you sign the papers call him with the VIN and he will fax your card to the dealer.Andrea J, There are tons of websites where you can get an online quote. http://www.goodi...... - 2010-03-07

» Do you have to like someone to find them funny?

I think the question contradicts itself. If you don't like someone than it is because you see something in that person that turns you off. Someone have to attract you before you can find the things he does amusing. I think the fact that you can be turned off and amused by someone in a positive way is almost nul. But you can be turned off by the things someone does and also be amused by the things someone does in a empathatic way. Laugh because the person doesn't know better or doesn't realise his mistakes. Very intersting and hard questionNo....I think you have to "know" someone in order to like them. I know who Robin Williams is, but I dont KNOW him. I like his comedy..but if I were to know him in person, I may n...... - 2010-03-07

Interview with chief vet Dr. Than Tun on avian flu outbreak in Burma Democratic Voice of Burma http://english.dvb.no/news.php?id=6833 Apr 11, 2006 (DVB) - During a news briefing at Bangkok on 10 April, United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) officials said that the recent outbreak of avian flu in Burma is more serious than previously thought and that it has become a major source of problem for the region. Dr. Than Tun, director of Burma’s military government’s Planning and Administration Department of the Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department, who earlier insisted that bird flu was unlikely to break out in Burma because only some 15 percent of chickens are grown commercially, gave his reactions to the report as ...... - 2010-03-07

» Serarching for Lenses for Portrait (n+1 thread)

The question is similar as here: http://www.thephotoforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=85431 but I need for portraits and I want something good. The problem as always: budget, what is maximum 600 . :grumpy: I own now D70s and the 18-70 lens. The 70mm seems to be very often a bit short when trying to capture my son on the beach or playground. Can not really shoot a "candid" photo. I have to come as close as 1,5-2m and that's a problem, too. I'm not really planning to shoot animals, birds, insects (macro) etc. Some of my shoots with current lens: http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/cumi76/Forum_And_Temp/Tmp_2007_06_12/DSC_2246.jpg http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/cumi76/Forum_And_Temp/Tmp_2007_06_12/DSC_2257.jpg ...... - 2010-03-07

» How to keep the cat out of the christmas tree?

We have three cats. One is a year old and two are a few months old. Does anyone know a trick to keep them from climbing the Christmas tree? We have no way of blocking off the tree where it is and I hate to have to lock them up for so long.put a baby gate around it... kind of tacky but it may work.lol. I have four cats and they are the same way. Good luck, this is the nature of the little guys. Theres not much you can do.....sorry I can't help....you can try spraying them with water. That might stop them for a little bit. = )My cats do the same thing. We tried everything we finally ended up having to tie the tree to the wall to keep it from falling over when the cats climb it. And when we see them in the tree we get them out of the tr...... - 2010-03-07
