hope that it comes back negative... i have diabetes and you do not want it. Good Luck!
When we knew something was wrong with my son, the doctor knew immediately what the problem was. A few tests in the hospital the next day to confirm the unfortunate diagnosis. He has type 1, perhaps diagnosing type 2 might take a little more time.
Veinous blood test done in a laboratory is more accurate, but results may be available next day.
if they took the blood into a test tube, it will take 2-3 days.
But some doctor have the equipment to do the A1C test in their office in about 5 minutes, using one drop of blood. But that depends on the doctor, and how much he is willing to spend on lab equipment.
[The one-time "Finger stick" test, the same test diabetics use on a daily basis, is not a good DIAGNOSIS tool. it is used to track your instantaneous sugar level, which could be high or low at any given time.]
If they do a Glucose Tolerance test, that take 3-4 HOURS (and you have to drink that nasty sweet syrup stuff). In that case they can tel you almost immediately after the test is completed.
